Join us in devotional kirtans, featuring chants by Paramhansa Yogananda and Swami Kriyananda.
As Kriyananda writes in his autobiography, The Path:
“Paramhansa Yogananda’s Cosmic Chants consist of simple sentences repeated over and over again, each time with deeper concentration and devotion... In their very simplicity I found beauty, and a power that surpassed that of most music I had ever heard. For these were ‘spiritualized’ chants: Master had infused subtle blessings into them by singing each one until it elicited a divine response. As buildings and places develop vibrations according to the consciousness of the people frequenting them, so music also develops vibrations beyond those of actual sound. Chants that have been spiritualized, particularly by great saints, have a heightened power to inspire whoever sings them.”
Most of the chanting and a smaller amount of meditating occur during the first 2 hours of a 3 hour session, or the first hour of a 1-1/2 hour session, followed by meditation until 9:00 pm. Families are welcome for the chanting segment.

“Kirtan” refers to chanting and, as Paramhansa Yogananda put it, “Chanting is half the battle!” Open your heart and still your mind to the Divine presence through devotional chanting! We use Indian harmoniums, guitars, drums, kirtals (bells), gong, and even harp! Chants by Paramhansa Yogananda, Swami Kriyananda, and mantric chants from India.
