Saturdays, 1:30-4:30 pm, $40 each workshop or $225 prepaid, for all 6. Students who take the Yoga Teacher Training course beginning September 10, 2010 may apply half the cost of these Intensives to their tuition if enrolled by July 31, 2010.

This new series of yoga intensives is designed for students who wish to deepen their experience and understanding of hatha yoga or are considering a future Yoga Teacher Training course. Each 3-hour session includes warm-ups, pranayam, asana practice, lifestyle awareness, and meditation. The Ananda Yoga teaching staff - Willow, Murali, Michell, D'Arcy, Michael, and Vanessa - are working together to focus this series for maximum benefit to you!

This day-long retreat teaches the fundamental principles of using Yoga – the combination of physical postures and inner stillness – to allow you to meet the opportunities of life with ease, energy and an inner awareness of Self. It is an experiential workshop where we “learn with the body”. Whether this is your first yoga class or whether you are a practicing yogi – whatever the level of your experience, you will benefi t from the timeless teachings of Yoga.

 

The day will include: 

  • Asana Practice for Stress Relief
  • Pranayama Techniques: to activate the Parasympathetic Nervous System
  • Inversion Practice: to release long-held tensions and bring about a sense of deep calm. There will be break-out groups suitable to all levels of practice. Includes a class on strengthening the core muscles for future inversion practice.
  • Physiology of Stress: and the Anatomy of Relaxation
  • Restorative Postures: to Induce the Relaxation Response
  • Ayurvedic Lunch: included in the cost of the retreat.

This retreat will be led by Willow Kushler and Murali Venketrao, who co-teach the Yoga Teacher Training Program. They will be joined by a team of Ananda Yoga teachers to support you in your practices.
